Why did you start making ASMR Videos?

"It was something I felt like doing, and I thought I could be good at it. It's an outlet for me to be able to help people, all around the world, feel better."

"It all started here with this, now defunct, Blue Yeti microphone."

I've had ASMR, or Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response, for years! I remember my first few experiences were during elementary school, 2nd Grade. These moments revolved around the end of the day or right after lunch time, when a few students got selected to go around and wipe down all the tables with a sponge and spray bottle of what I could imagine was soapy water. Something about having another person service my individual space, or paying close attention to detail as they wiped slowly up and down the desk, was the right kind of visual/ auditory trigger that caused the first couple of tingling sensations in my head and neck. I didn't want it to stop and often asked if they could do a second round for me. I was a mini junkie of this incredibly euphoric feeling.

Fast forward many years later, having had this feeling trigger on and off throughout, I found myself on a military base in South Korea. My unit and I were stationed there for a few months and it was my last overseas tour before I was scheduled to honorably separate. I was simply lying down in my creaky, 40 year old, bunk bed looking at videos of space paintings. I was intrigued by the art form and the seemingly simple process of rendering out scenic views of planets in space, with nothing but a few spray cans of paint and a couple of pot and pan covers. As the artist in the video began spray painting, my ASMR was triggered by the sounds of spraying! It was amazing and I relished in the feeling because it had been a while since I felt that relaxing sensation.

I had to find out what it was. So far that I knew, my brother and I were the only ones who knew about the sensation. But after a few seconds of searching using terms like, "tingly feeling, back of the neck, and relaxing" I found forums of people talking about "ASMR". I found my first couple of YouTube videos that featured people crinkling plastic, tapping on objects, and whispering. I was hooked! I found out one of the things I had been wanting to know about for a long time. I quickly found favorites like Heather Feather, MassageASMR, and SoftlyGaloshes. That list then grew bigger and bigger till one day I asked myself....

I wonder If I can do this too?
